Born in Houston, Texas, and raised in suburban Atlanta, Jonaé Wartel learned the value of hard work and determination from day one. She developed a love for learning at an early age and soon found herself interested in politics and law. In addition, she became heavily vested in civic responsibility and community development programs. During her time here at UNCG, Jonaé has been involved in various community service organizations such as: Alpha Lambda Delta, Circle K International, and the Family Literacy Program. As a part of Student Government for the past 2 years, she has served as an organizational representative (2005) as well as Current Concerns Committee chair (2005-2006). Currently studying Political Science and Spanish, Jonaé plans to continue her education by attending law school and working with agencies providing legal protection for underprivileged citizens. In her spare time, Jonaé enjoys picture-taking, blogging, and shopping. Her top three goals for the SGA administration in this school year are:
