The Vice President of the Student Government Association serves a role as the President of the Student Senate. As President of the Senate, the Vice President oversees Senate meetings, calling them to order, recognizing Senators and acting as Chair.
Donald A. Hughes was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. He attended school in the Durham Public Schools System where he graduated in 2005, from Hillside High School with distinctions and honors as a North Carolina Scholar and candidate for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Program.
Donald is currently a sophomore majoring in Economics and Political Science. During his freshman year, he served as Community Service Committee Chairman for the UNCG Black Business Student Association (BBSA), Freshman Senator, Chairman Pro-Tempore of the UNCG Student Senate, and Vice-President of the UNCG Student Government Association. This will be Donald's first full term as UNCG Student Government Association Vice-President. He looks forward to working with the student body, UNCG administrators, surrounding universities, and Greensboro community this year to explore and promote innovative and meaningful growth in the City of Greensboro, North Carolina. Donald goals for this year are
- Increase student awareness of campus issues
- Communicate the voice of students to UNCG administrators
- Provide an environment where differences in ideas, cultures, and opinions are welcomed and respected
